"Alden has changed my life dramatically! Living here has altered my way of thinking and opened my mind to different cultures. I appreciate everyone who has worked with me here at Alden Trails for the past nine years, and I just want to say 'Thanks.'"

"Living at Alden Trails has allowed me to participate in writing a facility newsletter, 'Happy Trails.' It also has allowed me to go out and get a haircut in the community as any other individual does. By scheduling a ride on the activity bus provided by Alden, I am able to act independently by scheduling it by myself and not needing the help of my family. I have a job, and Alden provides transportation to and from work, free of charge. I do not even have to use the PACE bus."

"The day I moved into Alden Trails I was very nervous, because I had never been away from home before. The reason I moved here was because my mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer and, as my main caretaker, she was worried that she could not adequately take care of me. She and I agreed it would be a good decision for me to move to Alden Trails in August 1998. Alden opened many doors for me; the top three being: 1. living with three of my best friends; 2. going to the College of DuPage; and 3. living here with my best friend, Jason, the first four years after Alden Trails opened. I want to extend a special thank you to everyone who has worked here over the years and continues to work here."

Families

"My daughter has been a resident at Alden Trails since March 2006. I have been a frequent visitor to the facility, and I have always found her to be in very good spirits and happy within the limited capabilities caused by her disease. She is always appropriately dressed and her hygiene is excellent. She frequently mentions how fond she is of the nursing staff. Whenever I visit, I am always pleased with the cleanliness of her room as well as the common areas in the facility; the airiness of the layout of the building; and most importantly, the caring, friendly and competent attitude of the staff. I am glad my daughter is in such a fine home."

"Alden Trails is always clean and smells good. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. At one time, I did not want my son to move away from home, but I must admit this has been a very good move for him."

"Like every parent, I was very skeptical about placing my son in a group home. I am happy to report, though, that Alden Trails has been everything and more than I could ever have imagined. Any doubts I had no longer exist. The staff at Alden Trails is fantastic at making my son feel at home and taking care of his medical needs. He enjoys his independence away from mom, but he knows I am just a phone call away. I am so glad Alden Trails exists and thank everyone here because they made my son’s first time away from home a pleasant experience."

"My brother has lived at Alden Trails for seven years and has received the best care possible. I really believe the staff and Administrator are the best. They go 'above and beyond' the call of duty and have made sure to create 'a family atmosphere.' I love everything they have done – thank you, Alden Trails."

"For the past 8 ½ years, our son has been proud to call Trails 'home.' We feel that it is one of the finest 16-bed facilities in the area, and we are very pleased with the care provided by the dedicated staff. In addition, Management has been very supportive in encouraging Kurt's employment in the community as well as his ideas for a Resident Council and a facility newsletter. We feel fortunate that Kurt is a member of the Alden family, and we can rest easy knowing that he is and will be well cared for in the years ahead."

"I first became affiliated with Alden as a community volunteer for the Human Rights Committee at Alden Village Health Facility for Children and Young Adults. I was so impressed with the staff that I soon after asked to join the Alden team. I was contacted for an interview for the Facility Manager position at Alden Trails. I can honestly say it was 'love at first sight' when I met the residents – I immediately knew this is where I wanted to be. I thank God for giving me this opportunity to give back and share life with 'my guys' at Alden Trails."
